The Theatre Guild of Simsbury is a non-profit organization which was formed in 1972 by a group of Simsbury residents. Since our inception our mission has been to:
Bring entertainment to people of all ages from all over the region;
Enrich the community life through our activities;
Ensure that quality musical theatre continues to be available at low cost to audiences who might not otherwise have access to such productions;
Provide members with a forum in which to perform and perfect their skills;
Encourage the youth in our community to challenge and perfect their skills and talents by performing with our organization;
Provide deserving local high school students with scholarships so they may continue their education in the performing arts;
Collaborate with our local sister community theatre organizations to help ensure each organization’s success and existence;
Build audience participation in the arts from youth through maturity.
Each year, we produce a Broadway style musical in the fall and in the spring we perform a Studio Theatre style play.
The Theatre Guild is run by our Board of Directors which consists of thirteen members. Their job is to facilitate the guild in its financial, legal and technical aspects; as well as advertising and community relations.
Funds are received through area businesses advertising in our program, personal patrons and ticket sales, as well as donations. This patronage enables us to continue our annual productions and help fund scholarships for students in our community. While we serve the community by providing quality theatrical entertainment, each year the Theater Guild also funds a scholarship which is given to a graduating senior of the Simsbury High School in recognition of excellence in the performing arts. Donations for this scholarship may be made to the Simsbury Bank or to Theatre Guild of Simsbury.
