Farm and Forest All- Terrain 5K

Come run a majestical 5K with the Stamford Museum & Nature Center through the woods on their beautiful sprawling land. April 21, 2024 start 8:00 AM. Note you must be 16 or older to run this All Terrain 5K. 

With its starting point at the Fedele Family Plaza outside the SM&NC’s award-winning Knobloch Family Farmhouse, the course begins on the winding paved paths of Heckscher Farm. You will pass cows, horses, llamas, goats, donkeys, and other Heckscher Farm friends before looping around the beautiful Bendel Pond, and then up the hill to the Bendel Mansion. You will enjoy much of iconic retail magnate Henri Bendel’s original vision for his property during this leg of the run, including the great lion statues and Italian Renaissance fountain as you pass through the Mansion’s pillared rear area before heading downhill to enter the SM&NC’s scenic hiking trails. Following a turn-around in the forest, you will hop onto the Wheels in the Woods wooden boardwalk that meanders over Poorhouse Brook and past vernal ponds. Emerging from the forest, you will cross Otter Bridge to reenter Heckscher Farm, where you will run past the pigs, Guinea Hogs, and Scottish Highland Cow as you head back up to the Farmhouse. The course is a two-loop course to ensure you enjoy the experience on the second lap in case you were too focused on your stride the first time around!
