West Hartford takes great pride in hosting its annual Memorial Day Parade which is held on the national holiday. The parade follows a tradition established by returning West Hartford veterans from World War I in the 1920s. The West Hartford Commission on Veterans Affairs welcomes all veterans, with a group or alone, to join us in the parade. Organizations that have a veterans or military focus or purpose, may participate in the parade.
Assembly of parade units will take place at 9:30 AM in designated areas west of Woodrow Street on Farmington Avenue. The parade concludes at Town Hall.
Memorial Day Ceremony: Immediately following the parade at about 11:00am, a brief memorial service will be held at Veterans Memorial, corner of North Main Street and Farmington Avenue.
