“Underglow,” 2019, RA-4, E-6, and C-41 color chemistry on Fuji?lm Fujicrystal Archive Type II paper, 20 in. x 24 in.

Reception - Wednesday, January 29, 5-7 pm at Pegasus Gallery.

Sydney Morris’ alternative process photography is created by manipulating dark room chemistry and development techniques on light sensitive photographic paper.  This cameraless approach to image making results in highly abstract surfaces that are color infused, fluid, topographical, and profoundly suggestive.  As feats of bold technical insight and refined practice, Morris’ works are windows into a liquid chaos that are both materially menacing and sublime.

Morris is a Wethersfield resident and works for in Downtown Hartford.  She’s also a Launchpad Program Artist at Five Points Gallery in Torrington.  In 2012 Morris attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a concentration in Photography and received her BFA from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in 2015.
