Ice skating is always in season in the Nutmeg State. Connecticut is host to numerous indoor and outdoor skating rinks and many feature NHL or Olympic-sized sheets of ice. Tie up your laces and get ready to glide and waltz jump across the ice.

International Skating Center, Simsbury, CT

In addition to the two rinks at the International Skating Center, there is a fitness room and dance studio so skaters can tone their whole body and get in shape for the season. There is also a restaurant, café, and shop onsite. The International Skating Center offers skating lessons for children who want to learn to skate and adults who want to perfect their arabesque. Hockey lessons are also available.

Danbury Ice Arena, Danbury, CT

Skate at the Danbury Ice Arena or play hockey in one of their leagues. They offer several skating classes and other activities for youth and adults. Kids interested in hockey lessons can start as young as 10 years-old and they will learn to march in place, jump, maneuver on the ice, and more. Hockey lessons continue to youth hockey clinics, leagues, and summer camp.

Enfield Twin Rinks, Enfield, CT

Have a fun day out with your family at the Enfield Twin Rinks. Public skating is available every Saturday and skates are available for rent if you don't have your own. Hockey players over the age of 40 will be glad to hear that there are over 40 hockey scrimmages and stick times.

Wonderland of Ice, Bridgeport, CT

Pretend you are professional hockey player at Wonderland of Ice, which is the official practice rink of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Public skating is available nearly every day of the week, so you'll likely be able to practice every day if you'd like. For free skating time, adults cost $7 and kids under 12 cost $5. If you don't have your own skates, skate can be rented for $5. Wonderland of Ice also has lessons, stick time, and ice-aerobics.

Champions Skating Center, Cromwell, CT

Boasting two skating rinks, one NHL-size and one Olympic-size, you'll surely find space to skate at Champions Skating Center. They hold numerous youth hockey and adult hockey leagues as well as offer skating lessons. Champions Skating Center is also the official practice rink of the Hartford Wolf Pack, so perhaps you'll catch a glimpse of the team during your visit.

Greenwich Skating Club, Greenwich, CT

The Greenwich Skating Club has a figure skating and hockey program. Children as young as the age of three years-old can take skating lessons-perhaps one day this will inspire them to be professional skaters! Skates can be sharpened onsite if necessary. The Greenwich Skating Club also features an outdoor hockey rink and league.

New Canaan Winter Club, New Canaan, CT

Interested in a more private skating experience? Join the New Canaan Winter Club, which is private club perfect for skate with your family. This club is for members-only and there are numerous events, leagues, and lessons suitable for children and adults alike. The private club was opened in 1957 by ice skating lovers and also features a women's hockey league and comfortable lodge.

SoNo Ice House, South Norwalk, CT

Lace up your skates and bring your family for skating fun at SoNo, which boasts two rinks: one official NHL-sized rink and one training rink. If you need to brush up on your figure eights, SoNo has ice skating lessons. Additionally, there are public skating nights and numerous hockey clubs in case you'd like to show off your moves. Skate rentals are available for $5 and varying prices apply for adults, children and senior citizens. Additional amenities include a shop, café, and observation area.

Westport PAL Rink at Longshore, Westport, CT

This outdoor rink sets up seasonally and is currently gearing up for its 20th season. You can also check out their web cam to learn how the rink is built. Pricing varies and skate rental costs $5 per person.

Terry Conners Rink, Stamford, CT

Terry Conners Rink a great option for children's birthday parties as two rooms are available for rent and parties can be scheduled during public skating times on the weekend, over school vacations, and during holidays. Party packages include admission, skate rental, and use of the party room.
