November 15, 2023

The Burnham Library proudly presents an exhibition featuring the remarkable works of two Afghan artists, Matin Malikzada and Alibaba Awrang. This extraordinary showcase will run from December 3 to 31, 2023, providing a unique opportunity for the community to appreciate the talents of these artisans.

Matin Malikzada, a seventh-generation master potter, and Alibaba Awrang, a master contemporary calligrapher specializing in wall art, bring their rich artistic traditions to the Burnham Library. Displaced in 2021 due to the Taliban's rise to power, these artists and their families sought refuge and were eventually resettled in Connecticut.

We invite you to join us for the opening reception on Saturday, December 9th, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This event promises an enriching experience as both artists will briefly share their compelling stories and insights into their craft.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to engage with the inspiring narratives and artistic expressions of Matin Malikzada and Alibaba Awrang. We look forward to welcoming you to this celebration of resilience, creativity, and cultural exchange.

The Burnham Library is located at 62 Main Street in Bridgewater, CT. For additional information, you may call the library at 860-354-6937 or visit their website www.burnhamlibrary.org
