Area Police Departments Recognized at Appreciation Day Ceremony and Brunch
Sunday, September 18. a festive ceremony recognizing the work of the local Police Departments was held at Beth Israel Chabad, a Synagogue serving the communities of Norwalk, Westport, Weston, and Wilton,
Organized by Police Chaplain, Rabbi Yehoshua S. Hecht, who served as M.C. the event featured musical selections by Professor Gil Harel, who opened the program with G-d Bless America and other classical selections. Present was Rabbi Levi Stone, Chaplain of the Weston Police.
Greetingsof appreciation were offered by City of Norwalk Mayor, Harry Rilling, Town of Westport First Selectwoman, Jennifer S. Tooker, and Selectwoman of Wilton, Kimberley Healy.
On hand to receive the citations of merit, were Deputy Police Chiefsof the City of Norwalk, James Walch and Susan Zecca, and the Westport Police Chief, Foti Koskinas, Weston Police Chief, Ed Henion and Wilton Police Chief, John Lynch.
Realtor and business owner Winfred Baum represented the business community for the City of Norwalk, and for the town of Westport was Stephen Schwartz, who serves as president of the Synagogue. Representing the town of Weston was Dr. Mark Goldenberg, an EMS volunteer, together with Weston resident Scott Miller. Marge Sapir and Mitch Rapoport represented the town of Wilton.
Plaques of appreciation were presented to the Police together with warm words of thanks, amidst applause, for the courage and valor of the police in service of the community. A full brunch was served to all attending.
