Winter Snow

This Musings from Main is for everyone who loves winter and snow.  I thought I'd remind us of what a thick blanket of snow looks like in South Windsor! Ferry Lane
1890-1930

This image shows electrical poles and small buildings in the snow. The closest building is a one-story brick structure with "Tramp's Hotel" written on the side in white. The caption on the back reads, "Tramp's Hotel, Bissell's Ferry Road." If you have any details or stories about the "Tramp's Hotel", we would love to hear them and include them in our database.

Buckland Road
1938-1942

This image is an aerial photograph of the Buckland Road area of South Windsor, CT in the winter, before development. Wapping 5 corners can be seen in the background. An overlay (which accompanies the image in the archives) shows the names of farm owners and buildings including; the Newel house and farm, Dewey farm, Harrison house, Collins farm, Sele farm, Buckland house, a schoolhouse, Hevenor house, Waldron house, Files house, and Snow house or shop. These descriptions may or may not be fully accurate.  If you notice an error please inform us so that we can correct it.
