Groton Public Library Board Seeking Student Representative

GROTON, Conn. — The Groton Public Library Board is seeking applicants for a student representative to serve as a non-voting member and act as liaison to the schools.

The role of student representative is to improve and encourage use of library services and materials by teens, to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas between the library and local schools, to provide students with leadership opportunities to serve and improve their community, and to gain practical experience in the operations of their government.

This appointment requires a student to be a resident of Groton, an active library patron, and enrolled at a Groton school as a sophomore or junior in good academic standing by July 1. Students will earn volunteer hours for their time and contributions.

Applications and a description of the position can be found on the Library’s website, grotonpl.org. Completed applications should be returned to a library staff member or emailed to reference@groton-ct.gov by May 31.
