The Nutcracker:
Hear the Story, See a Performance,
Learn a Dance

The magic of The Nutcracker ballet comes to New Canaan Library when The New England Academy of Dance (NEAD) presents a performance featuring dancers from the company as well as professionals from New York City. Under the direction of Frances Ortiz, Ginna Ortiz, and Ted Thomas, this educational, family-friendly event includes a reading of The Nutcracker book by the Sugar Plum Fairy, followed by a performance from the ballet. Other characters from The Nutcracker, Clara and the Snow Queen, will teach children from the audience a dance from the ballet. For children ages 5 - 10, but all are welcome

Create Your Own Holiday Crossword Puzzle with Excel

Are you a crossword lover? Join librarians Tara Key and Kassidy Wynne to create your very own holiday themed crossword puzzle using Microsoft Excel.
Please bring a laptop to class. If you do not have one, the library will provide one for the duration of the class.
Class prerequisites: Computer, mouse, and keyboarding skills. Prior knowledge of Excel is useful but not required.
Next Chapter Book Discussion

This social, community-based book club is for older teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who enjoy reading or listening to stories. At every meeting each member is given a turn to read regardless of their reading level. The group reads a page or two and then discusses the book. This club is about supportive friendships and having fun. We welcome all abilities and new members are always encouraged to join.

Book Explorers is a book club for 2nd & 3rd graders that meets monthly on Mondays from 4:15pm to 5:00pm. Join Miss Dajana for a book discussion of The Case of the Lost Boy by Dori Hillestad Butler, followed by a fun activity.
Drop-in Preschool Coloring Club

Join us for some wintry fun and bring your grandparents, family, and friends for a break after the holidays! Special guest Chris Palmieri of Lucky Duck Puppets will charm us with the tale of Greg the Penguin as he tries to find his place in the world and help share holiday cheer. Afterwards enjoy a special story time with Ms. Marie, crafts, and a hot cocoa station! Tickets are $30 each. Proceeds from this event benefit Family Services and the Rees Family Children’s Library.
