Music Haven String Quartet Concert with Students: Peter and the Wolf
Saturday, December 2, 11 am-12 pm | Fair Haven

Our friends at Music Haven will have a family-friendly performance of Peter and the Wolf. Come enjoy the timeless music with professional musicians and support local students. After the performance there will be a “petting zoo” of instruments. Kids, try one out or learn more about Music Haven’s program.

A Christmas Carol Workshop: Presented by the Shubert Theatre
Saturday, December 2, 2-3 pm | Stetson

This workshop will include story time, arts and crafts, and a free book for every child attending. For ages 3+. Workshop is free but registration is requested.

Sewing with Rahkiya

Mondays, December 4, 11, and 18, 4-5:30 pm | Wilson
Wednesays, December 6, 13, and 20, 4-5:30 pm | Wilson

The workshop will start with the basics, like sewing buttons and patches, eventually learning to upcycling your own clothes and more! This is geared towards kids aged 8-18.

Penguin Storytime and Craft
Wednesday, December 27, 4-5 pm | Mitchell

Enjoy stories about everyone's favorite flightless bird and make a craft to take with you.

Children's Authors and Illustrator Series: Author and Coach Tanisha Marie
Thursday, December 28, 3-4 pm | Ives

Join Coach Tanisha Marie on Thriving Thursday for a financial wellness book read. There will be a discussion on how wealth is built from childhood and how children can start creating their own income from home. Attendees will learn the importance of self love, being happy, investing, saving, and ownership; and will leave with a clear picture of what steps to take to start building wealth today.

There will also be a book giveaway, while supplies last. Event will take place in the Children’s Room (2nd floor) and is offered in partnership with Yale’s Affinity Groups.

Queer Youth Game Space
Saturday, December 2, 1-3 pm | Ives

Come join Q+ and NHFPL Teens on the first Saturday of every month for two hours of board game fun in a respectful and inclusive environment. Pizza and snacks will be provided! Open to all teens.

New Haven Go Club
Saturdays, December 2, 9, 16 and 30, 2-4:45 pm | Ives

Come to the lower level of the Ives Main Library to learn and play this exciting game! Go is an abstract strategy board game for two players in which the aim is to surround more territory than the opponent. This game is for teens and adults.

Coding Club: Powered by Girls Who Code
Wednesdays, December 6, 13, 20 and 27, 5-6 pm | Ives

Learn to create a game using Scratch! Open to all New Haven Teens, regardless of gender. Girls Who Code Clubs encourage you to impact your community in a positive way through code. You will learn how to code from our fun online tutorials and activities that will help you build animations, games, apps, and other things that you dream up!

The Santa Clause Film Screening
Tuesday, December 26, 3-5 pm | Ives

Come to the Teen Center and join the Teen Advisory Board for a movie screening of Tim Allen's The Santa Clause! Hot chocolate and snacks will be provided. And who knows? Maybe a special guest will drop by!
