New Kindergarten Age Requirement

From: Town of Windsor
December 7, 2023

Dear Prospective Windsor Public Schools Families,

Windsor Public Schools wants to inform you about a recent change in the kindergarten enrollment cutoff date. Starting from the 2024-2025 school year, children should turn 5 on or before September 1 to enroll in kindergarten, as per the new Connecticut Legislature mandate. However, if your child doesn't meet this cutoff, they may still be considered for admission upon (1) written request from you and (2) a school assessment determining their developmental readiness.

For more details and the waiver link, please visit the Windsor Public Schools website to view the letter from Dr. Noha Hady, Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services at Windsor Public Schools.

Additionally, they invite prospective families to a special meeting on December 19th at 10:00 AM at the L.P. Wilson Community Center. They will guide you through the enrollment process, address any questions, and provide free childcare. RSVP details are available on their website.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to:

Alexis Schacht, Administrative Assistant to Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services
