Spring into Story Time
Wednesday @10:30am
All ages

Not to be missed, the last spring story time for the season. After a short pause, we'll resume on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30am on June 14th. We'll kick off the summer reading season with all new books to read, songs to sing, rhymes to learn and games to play. After reading stories, we'll explore our surroundings and engage in a craft or activity. We'll gather outside on the story time parachute as long as the weather allows. All ages are welcome.

SML Middle Grade Book Club
Meets for the last session of the season, Saturday, June 4th
2 to 3:30PM, Ages 11-14

We've created a book club for middle grade students to explore literary genres. We meet monthly to talk about the stylistic differences between the "classics," historical fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels on our reading list. Our knowledge is deepened through discussion, movies, games, and other activities designed to enrich the experience. Titles will be available for check out from the library three weeks in advance of our meeting date. We're currently reading Dan Santat's graphic novel a first time for everything. Register today!

Reading Buddies
Designed to help younger children practice their reading, Reading Buddies is a program that pairs emerging readers with another, older "kid." The idea and hope is that connecting with another, older "kid," is a treat in itself, and that reading aloud to a "kid" is low-pressure. At the same time, the student volunteer (age 12-18) serves as a reading mentor, demonstrating how to stay calm while reading and how to conquer reading difficulties. The buddy will ask questions about the text and have a basic understanding of assessing and helping with reading comprehension. This is an in-person or virtual program to fit your needs.
