We've created a book club for middle grade students to explore literary genres. We meet monthly to talk about the stylistic differences between the "classics," historical fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels on our reading list. Our knowledge is deepened through discussion, movies, games, and other activities designed to enrich the experience. Titles will be available for check out from the library three weeks in advance of our meeting date. We're currently reading Discovering Wes Moore, the young adult adaption. Register today!

Reading Buddies

Designed to help younger children practice their reading, Reading Buddies is a program that pairs emerging readers with another, older "kid." The idea and hope is that connecting with another, older "kid," is a treat in itself, and that reading aloud to a "kid" is low-pressure. At the same time, the student volunteer (age 12-18) serves as a reading mentor, demonstrating how to stay calm while reading and how to conquer reading difficulties. The buddy will ask questions about the text and have a basic understanding of assessing and helping with reading comprehension. This is an in-person or virtual program to fit your needs. For more information and to register click here.

Let's Weave Together

Weaving is an ancient practice that is often used as a metaphor for storytelling. Join us in a community weaving project at the library. Sit for a few moments at our loom and weave in your story!
