Letter from the Director

Dear Friends,

Spring has sprung at The Brookfield Library! Our April calendar is full of exciting and enriching events to get you thinking, creating, relaxing and learning.

Nature enthusiasts might enjoy attending our Mountain Lion program on April 11, or learning about Invasive Trees and Plants in Brookfield on April 18.  We're also hosting a "Batty for Bats" program led by librarian, bat enthusiast and rehabilitator Maureen Heidtmann on April 29.

We're looking forward to an interesting and informative presentation on April 6 offered by Jeremy Klein Farrell entitled, "Paths to Autistic Empowerment." As an autistic individual, Jeremy has unique insight into how autistic empowerment is cultivated. Jeremy's discussion will focus on open communication and self-advocacy and ways to help autistic individuals make the most of their path to success. This program is recommended for adults with autism, or anyone looking for ways to support autistic children, teens or adults in their lives.

We are excited to announce that, due to popular demand, our Children's Department will be adding a second session of our "Shake, Rattle and Read!" storytime for babies and toddlers (ages 6–24 months) on Fridays at 11:00 am starting April 21. Please see our events calendar to register.

Lastly, we'll be celebrating National Library Week April 23–29. This is a time to honor our nation's libraries, library workers' contributions and promote library use and support. Please take a moment to thank your favorite library staff member in person, by email or on our social media, and consider making a donation to The Friends of The Brookfield Library or The Brookfield Library Foundation. We are grateful for the support of both organizations who help us fulfill our mission to the community everyday.

Happy Spring!
