Letter from the Director

Dear Friends,

School may be winding down, but at The Brookfield Library, things are heating up! We have a calendar full of fun programs, classes, events and book discussions this month. There's something for everyone!

I am thrilled to announce this year's choice for our One Town, One Read program—The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb. We hope you'll enjoy this engaging and suspenseful book about a Black classical musician who is the victim of a shocking theft which sends him on a desperate quest to recover his great-great-grandfather's heirloom violin. We'll have a book giveaway starting on June 20, and a full slate of One Town, One Read programs will be published later this month. Our OTOR programs will run from July 10 through August 19.

We are also excited to kick off our Summer Reading Program this month. This year's theme is All Together Now, and our Children's Librarians have been hard at work planning a fun-filled summer of crafts, entertainment, science and literacy programs and fun reading challenges.  We hope to see you at our Kick-Off Event on Friday, June 16 at 5:30 pm, when our special guest will be two-time World Freestyle Frisbee Champion, Todd Brodeur. Todd will not only rock the Library with his amazing frisbee skills, he will also offer a workshop for children to learn some fun frisbee basics!

June happens to be "Great Outdoors Month." We hope you make the best of it and enjoy a good book on the beach or under a shady tree!

Best regards,

Debbie Brooks, Acting Director
