This Week At Darien Library - October 1 - October 9, 2022

In the 1800s, an amazing cultural exchange took place: Japanese art, aesthetics, and craftsmanship swept Europe and the United States.

Local American painters in the Greenwich-based Cos Cob art colony even took up a style of art inspired by Japanese woodblock prints. When Japanese artist Genjiro Yeto became a resident of the Cos Cob art colony, his work exploded, becoming a fundamental element of American Impressionism.

Learn about the incredible work of these artists, and how an entire wave of new Americans shaped our nation's art with Kelsie Dalton, Assistant Curator at the Bush-Holley House, on Thursday, October 6th at 7 p.m.
