Clinton, CT – Clinton Senior Connection, the recently launched senior program in town, has been selected as a beneficiary of the Stop & Shop “Community Bag Program” for the month of October. The group will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at the 215 East Main Street location.

Clinton Senior Connection, led by program coordinator, Christina Acampora, was recognized by the store’s leadership team as an organization making a notable impact in the community where shoppers live and work. Its main objective is to empower older adults through enriching, often times educational, fun senior-focused programming. Some of the recent activities organized for members include creative writing, live music, cooking, mosaic workshops, walking groups, and a guided kayak tour.

“Funds raised from this unique outreach effort, generously offered by Stop & Shop, will help further offset the cost of programming, and enable additional opportunities for seniors to socialize with one another through more mobile events,” said Acampora. “I am always brainstorming new ideas for engaging events that seniors can enjoy while feeling deeply valued by their community. I’m grateful to anyone who supports the Community Bag Program during October by purchasing a reusable bag.”

Acampora said some programs that are on the horizon if enough resources are available this year are group trips to Goodspeed Opera House, some guest speaker events, and possibly a senior-produced town-wide music concert featuring musicians from Clinton Senior Connection’s regular music meetups.
