Hebron Health and Safety

We have worked 28 days without a work-related injury or accident.

Public Works Department

This week the crew cleared waterways and the tops of basins were cleaned from heavy rains.   A couple of snow events took place which had the crew responding by a salt application early morning and again later in the day. Plow trucks were washed, and repairs attended as needed. Sign replacements were required throughout town. Tree removals and trimming was conducted on Martin Road.

Fire Department

Fire Safety Tips - Two thirds of residential fires are caused by improperly maintained fireplaces, chimneys and wood stoves.
Help keep your home and family safe by following these safety tips :

- Have your fireplace and chimney inspected and cleaned annually by a professional;
- Maintain your wood stove, gas log fireplace and oil fired heating equipment;
- Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from your fire place or wood stove;
- Burn the right type of wood.   Seasoned hardwood lessens the buildup of creosote.  Clean your ashes regularly and dispose of ashes in a metal container with a lid;
- Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on every floor of your home; and ensure the batteries are working;

Chief Peter J. Starkel

This week the Hebron Fire Department responded to 13 EMS, 2 fire alarms, 2 tree/wires, 1 transformer fire, 1 odor propane/gas investigation and 1 chimney fire.

The Town Clerk’s Office has been working to prepare for the imminent retirement of Town Clerk, Carla Pomprowicz. As a result of Carla’s retirement, the current Assistant Town Clerk, Francesca Villani, has been appointed by the Board of Selectmen, as Acting Town Clerk to complete Carla’s term of office.  Interviews are scheduled for next week to fill the vacated position of Assistant Town Clerk.
