1. Budget Adoption
The Board of Directors will meet Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in the Lincoln Center Hearing Room at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of the Budget Adoption. Details are online at

2.  Manchester Next!
The next phase of the Manchester Next project will offer several interesting and engaging opportunities to provide your input as we plan the future of the Town together. Some key dates:
Monday May16th through Thursday May 19th: The Town’s consultant partner TPUDC will be in town for their week-long
“Planapalooza”  process where they conduct multiple public workshops and meetings. All are welcome to attend.

consists of two major pieces:
1.  Public Opening Presentation/Hands-on Workshop (Monday 5/16) and the closing Work-in-Progress Presentation (Thursday 5/19); both of these sessions will take place at the Manchester High School cafeteria from 6-8pm.  
2. Open Studio & Technical Meetings: These will take place throughout the day during the entire week at WORK_SPACE (903 Main Street); WORK_SPACE is open to the public and residents should feel free to stop by to see the TPUDC team working during Open Studio. For those interested in the various Technical Meetings, please see schedule for specific times and dates.

4. Manchester Economic Development Commission May 12, 2022 Virtual Meeting 8:00 A.M.
Any member of the public wishing to participate and/or speak must submit a request to kshiel@manchesterct.gov. Only individuals requesting to speak will be allowed to join the Zoom meeting and meeting information will be sent to individuals who submit a request. Attendees will need to join the Zoom meeting and will be allowed to speak when directed by the Chairman.

5.  Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Online Appointments are now mandatory for all Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) events. Click the link to schedule your appointment to bring your HHW to 321 Olcott St. Manchester CT.

Collection dates for 2022 are: May 14, June 4, Aug. 27, Sept. 24, Oct. 29 and Nov. 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Manchester regional center for household hazardous waste collection. A fall outreach collection will also be held Oct. 15 in Stafford.

6. Community Conversations: Honoring Our Black Veterans
Join the African American & Black Affairs Council and the Town of Manchester’s Neighborhoods & Families Division for a panel discussion focused on black veterans, their experiences serving their country, and what steps need to be taken to further ensure the ongoing care of all veterans. Meets: F, 05/13/22, 6:30-8:30 PM in the Culture Lab at Mahoney Center. All ages welcome.

7.  Historic Preservation Awards Presentation
Please join us for Manchester’s 20th Annual Historic Preservation Awards Presentation: Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. Northwest Park, 448 Tolland Turnpike. (In the event of inclement weather, event will be held at The History Center, 175 Pine Street)
The Cheney Brothers National Historic District Commission is pleased to present its annual preservation awards to Manchester property owners who have maintained their property in a manner that preserves its historic values and character.
Please join us at this reception honoring the recipients.  The public is welcome.

8. Spring Plant Sale
The Manchester Garden Club will have their annual plant sale this Saturday, May 14 starting at 8:30 am at the Community Baptist Church, 585 East Center Street. This will be rain or shine. We have a great selection of native plants, pollinator friendly plants and plants from members gardens. Best of all, Garden Club members will be there to help with your questions. These plants sell quickly so come early. This is our only fund raiser so if you want to support the Garden Club and help us continue to do all that we do this is the way to help.

9.  Block Party
Do not miss the Free community Block Party hosted by Faith Tabernacle in Manchester, CT!
There will be something for everyone – a rock wall, bounce houses, petting zoo, face painting, free food and giveaways!
It’s all happening Saturday, May 14th, 2022 from 11 AM – 2 PM at Faith Tabernacle, 110 Utopia Rd. in Manchester, CT!

10.  Join us for the Grand Opening of our new Visitor Center!
Sunday, May 15, from noon to 2 p.m.
Join Manchester’s Mayor, Jay Moran, and the Woodbridge Farmstead Committee for speeches and a ribbon cutting officially opening our “new” old Visitor Center at 12:30 p.m..  Afterwards check out the display inside our Visitor Center showing some of the history of the Manchester Green area.  Then take a self-guided tour through our 18th century barn and a guided tour of our 1830s Woodbridge farmhouse.  We are located at 495 East Middle Turnpike. Parking available off Woodbridge Street behind the barn and through the gate.  Please be careful entering and exiting our parking area.   Overflow parking is also available at the nearby Senior Center.

11. The Manchester Art Association's (MAA) newest exhibit opened Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Manchester Town Hall located at 41 Center Street. It is entitled "Out of My Comfort Zone" and includes pieces in "all mediums" by MAA members. The exhibit can be seen at Manchester Town Hall during normal business hours or online at https://www.manchesterart.org/town-hall .
