National Police Week Proclamation

WHEREAS, in 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week, and;

WHEREAS, National Police Week is a time for us to honor and recognize the continuous dedication and courage of our police officers who risk their lives daily so that our communities remain safe. They play an important role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of the citizens of our community; and

WHEREAS, through the challenge of constant change in procedures and techniques, officers are becoming more efficient in enforcing the law; and

WHEREAS, National Police Week formally allows us to honor, celebrate and grieve fallen officers, so we may always remember those who put their life on the line every day for us; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Trumbull is deeply grateful to the courageous officers of Trumbull, under the leadership of Chief Michael Lombardo, who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to protect our Town, our families and defend our community;  

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut, do hereby proclaim May 15 - 21, 2022, as

NATIONAL POLICE WEEK            

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Town of Trumbull to be affixed on the 15th day of May in the year 2022.
