Adult Programming

Sunday Concert Series: GOZA Sunday, October 2nd from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. GOZA (Spanish for Joy) performs exciting music and dance rhythms from Latin America, Brazil and Spain. The band features guitar, horns, violin, bass, percussion and beautiful, romantic vocals. Goza rhythms include: salsa, cha-cha, samba, rumba, cumbia, flamenco, bossa , tango, bolero and Latin Jazz.  At any performance you will enjoy the songs of the Buena Vista Social Club, Tito Puente, Gipsy Kings, Jobim, Gardel and Piazzola plus arrangements of Beatles, Santana, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Guns & Roses and original tunes. Register here. 

All CT Reads: This Town Sleeps Monday, September 26th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All CT Reads is sponsored by the CT State Library, it is a year-long initiative to promote lifelong reading, learning, and connection. The third of four books we will read over the year, THIS TOWN SLEEPS by Dennis E Staples explores the many ways history, culture, landscape, and lineage shape our lives, our understanding of the world we inhabit, and the stories we tell ourselves to make sense of it all. Registration required.

Zine-Making Workshop Saturday, September 26th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:35 p.m. Learn about the history and basics of zine-making with Rhonda Kauffman from the Uconn Archives & Special Collections. then make your own zine with supplies provided by the library! Register here.

Disney Trivia Night Tuesday, September 27th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Test your Disney trivia knowledge! Gather your family, friends, put on your thinking caps, and join us for a night of trivia!  Team up or come solo. Compete to win bragging rights and prizes. This trivia is geared towards teens/adults challenge level, but all are welcome! Register here.

Birding at Seaside Park Friday, September 30th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Seaside Park is one of Bridgeport’s wonderful birding gems. This coastal beach is a not only a favorite place for visitors but also a great spot for birds as well. With over 200 species of birds seen here, we are sure to find a nice assortment. Seaside Park offers 1 mile of unobstructed views of Long Island Sound making it a great spot for observing a wide variety of water birds such as ducks, gulls, terns and even a seal or two! Join us.

Houseplants 102 | Fall and Winter Care Monday, October 3rd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Owning and caring for indoor plants can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be! Join us for a fun evening with Bark and Vine shop owner and plant expert, Ralph Saldi, while he teaches us the ins and outs of being a plant parent. Ralph will go over the finer points of care for the fall and winter seasons. Registration is required for this event.

How To Use Your Intuition to Make Important Decisions Tuesday, October 4th from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Have you ever wished that you could have a wise advisor to help you make the important decisions?  Well, you do!  It’s called your intuition.  Intuition is often relegated to certain individuals, but the truth is we all have intuition. Come to this informative talk to learn how anyone can learn to tap into their intuition using a few simple techniques. Register here.

Nonfiction Book Group Tuesday, October 4th from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Each month we will discuss a new and challenging non-fiction book. This month’s read: The Undocumented Americans by Karla Cornejo Villavicecio. If you enjoy learning about new things and different experiences, this group is for you. ArtSmart Craft: Fall Feathers Thursday, September 29th from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Join Kathy Vincent of ArtSmart! Studio for an afternoon of whimsical watercolor painting! Working with liquid watercolors, technical pens, oil pastel & acrylic paint, young artists will create a series of fabulous feathers, experimenting with a variety of illustrative techniques. Registration is required. Grades 3-5.

Young Writers Club Monday, October 3rd from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This new club, aimed for grades 4 - 6, will introduce kids to the basics of fiction writing and give them the opportunity to express their creativity. We will meet once a month and examine the fundamentals of what makes up our favorite stories, hone our creativity with fun writing exercises, and share our writing with each other! Book Club for Grades 1-3 Tuesday, October 4th from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. This month we are reading Mindy Kim and the Yummy Seaweed Business by Lyla Lee. Read the book on your own and then join us for a lively discussion in-person at the library. Register here.

Intro to Origami Corrugations Monday, October 3rd from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Learn the basics of origami corrugations! Origami, with its folds, compresses materials and packs them in the smallest of volumes. This is a fun and interesting way to design your own origami forms that look awesome. Register here.

Toddler Time for 2s and 3s Monday, September 26th from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Join Ms. Chelsie in person for great stories, songs, and dances.
