Book Talk
with Author Juliet Grames

Real life events of the author's Wethersfield grandmother are the basis for the novel The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna by Juliet Grames. Juliet’s grandmother settled in Wethersfield after leaving her birthplace in Italy.
Juliet Grames was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and raised in the Farmington Valley. Since 2010 she has worked at Soho Press, where she is associate publisher and curator of the critically acclaimed Soho Crime imprint and the literature translation program. The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna has been translated into 9 languages and has received numerous national and international awards.
Copies of the book are available to be checked out at the reference desk. Join us at the library in the Jane Sjoman Community Room for this fascinating story.

BE BOLD: Miniature Canvas/Easel Floral Painting Workshop
Tuesday, October 24 at 6:30pm
Participants in this workshop will create a one of a kind miniature 4”x 4” painting using acrylic paints, sharpies and paint markers. Each participant will receive a miniature display easel for their masterpiece. We will channel inspiration from famous artist Romero Britto who is known for his vibrant colors and bold patterns while exploring the subject of flowers, still life and the vessel.
All materials will be provided. Join us in the lower level Program Room for this inspiring program.

Drop-in any Saturday of the month to complete a fun scavenger hunt around the Children's Department. Each month will feature a new theme.
Celebrate Kevin the Turkey
Saturday, October 28 at 10:30pm
Authors Damien Cregeau and Pamela Hall will talk about and read their children’s book, “Kevin the Turkey A Tale of Thanksgiving", the true story of the turkey that paraded around Wethersfield in 2017.

Pumpkin Judging Contest & Parade
ages 2 - 11
Monday, October 30 at 6:00pm
Come dressed in your Halloween costume with a pumpkin decorated to look like your favorite book character. Pumpkins will be judged and prizes awarded. Enjoy stories and songs, visit the mad scientist in her laboratory and receive tricks and treats as you parade around the library.
