The Lone Violin by Brunilda Myftaraj

Saturday, September 16 at 2:00pm

Albanian-American violinist Brunilda Myftaraj has drawn enthusiastic accolades from audiences as well as critical acclaim for her masterful musicianship in Albania, Italy, Greece, France, Morocco, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Israel, and in the United States.

Ms. Myftaraj held the position of Concertmaster for the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Connecticut Lyric Opera and Greve opera festival in Italy for 15 years. Currently she is an active teacher, chamber musician and concert violinist. This event will take place in the Town Hall Council Chambers.

Tips for Memory

Did you know that the techniques used by memory athletes can be taught, learned, and create changes in the brain that enhance memory skill? Dr. Wendy Hurwitz will teach the tips and techniques used by memory athletes. This is an online program and will take place over Zoom.

A Year in Kimono: A History and Demonstration

Tuesday, September 19 at 6:30pm

Learn the history of the kimono, the Japanese traditional robe which is instantly recognizable around the world. Learn how the garment has evolved over centuries, its cultural significance in Japan, and the variety of kimonos for different occasions & formalities. Attendees will have the opportunity to try on vintage kimonos during a dressing demonstration. This program is presented by Robyn Mortiboys of the Japan Society of Fairfield County.

Wildlife Talk: There are Moose in the Woods!

Thursday, September 21 at 6:30pm

Ginny Apple, Master Wildlife Conservationist with CT DEEP, will discuss the history of moose in Connecticut, their lifecycle and habitat, share photos and artifacts, and answer questions. Although moose sightings in the Nutmeg State are sporadic, they have been spotted since the early 1900s. The moose population in Connecticut is estimated to be 100 animals. This program will take place over Zoom.

The Perfect Apple Pie with King Arthur Baking

Monday, September 26 at 6:30pm

Join expert bakers from King Arthur Baking for a guided class on how to make the classic all-American dessert. From their flaky pie crust to the perfect apple filling, King Arthur Baking will teach you the techniques to make sure your apple pies turn out perfect - every time!

This program will take place over Zoom and is presented through a partnership between the Wethersfield Library, the Cora J. Belden Library, the Lucy Robbins Welles Library, and the Berlin-Peck Library.

Each week of September, visit the Children's Department to collect a take-and make to celebrate a different country. While supplies last.

Saturday Scavenger Hunt

ages 4 - 12

Saturdays at 10:00am - 4:00pm

Drop-in any Saturday of the month to complete a fun scavenger hunt around the Children's Department. Each month will feature a new theme.

Pumpkin Judging

Contest & Parade

ages 2 - 11

Monday, October 30 at 6:00pm

Come dressed in your Halloween costume with a pumpkin decorated to look like your favorite book character. Pumpkins will be judged and prizes awarded. Enjoy stories and songs, visit the mad scientist in her laboratory and receive tricks and treats as you parade around the library.
