Johnny's Roadside Market Garden

Johnny's Roadside Market Garden
336 North Maple Street
860-763-1300

Johnny's has been in business since 1949.   It was started by John Swols, who grew up grow-ing tobacco with his mom and brothers, right here in Enfield.  Farming was in his blood, and after he married, he cleared the seven acres where the greenhouses and produce stand are today, and started "Johnny's Roadside Market Garden".  A true pioneer, Johnny built his own home, wood framed greenhouses, one by one, and then the stand.  Throughout the years, greenhouses have been updated and added, the stand has increased in size, an endless number of flowers have blossomed, and acres of vegetables have been harvested.  In 2001, Johnny passed away, and since then, the farm has been continued by his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandson.

We continue to grow our own bedding and vegetable plants, flowering hanging baskets, greenhouse tomatoes, field grown tomatoes, including Heirloom tomatoes, summer vegetables, fall mums, and pumpkins.  Traditionally we open for plants May 1st, and our Produce Stand opens, with a full line of fruits and vegetables, July 4th.

If you like "Buying direct from the Farmer", stop by and visit our farm, here in Enfield.  We are one of the very few true farmers left, in the area.
