On March 15, 2010, New Britain Youth Theater incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in Connecticut. Its purpose was to provide after-school programming to the Consolidated School District of New Britain, to produce a season of performances by and for children and young adults, and to offer drama classes and summer programs. NBYT is now a leading community and educational theater with programs including "Kids on Stage!" and "Little Kids on Stage!" productions, the NBYT Teen Company, Stage Performance classes, community outreach programs, and more. NBYT is dedicated to enriching the lives of children and young adults by encouraging creative thinking and collaborative teamwork, fostering self-confidence and self-esteem, and developing social and academic skills through involvement in high-quality, low-cost programs in the performing arts.

We at NBYT have been inspired by all of the children and teens we work with too. We're inspired by a first grader who began an after-school program with separation anxiety, and who soon volunteered to help lead warm-up exercises and take roles in stage. We're motivated by a once quiet and solitary child on the autism spectrum who soon initiated conversations and collaborated with his classmates to create characters, stories, and performances. We're beaming from reports by teachers that children in theater programs are less disruptive, participate more in class, and are more likely to improve their reading levels and grades. And we're proud to offer programs in which a diverse group of children from cities and towns throughout Connecticut come together to have fun, to work hard, and to feel that amazing sense of accomplishment in a job well done when they take their final bows.

As we continue in our FIFTH SEASON, we thank all participants and patrons for being part of such an incredible journey. Please join us in wishing for many, many more years to come!
