Storrs Farmers Market was founded in 1994 as part of an initiative of St. Mark's Episcopal Chapel in Storrs, Connecticut. The Market enjoyed many years in its location behind the church.
In 2006, Storrs Farmer Market struck out on its own, became an independent entity, and briefly moved to E. O. Smith High School. In 2008, the Market settled in its current location in the Mansfield Town Hall parking lot. (Storrs is a village within the Town of Mansfield.)
That same year saw the beginning of the Winter Market. Storrs Winter Farmers Market, an extension of the regular Market, has become a popular destination for locally-grown foods and is now open twice a month.
