An evening of original and traditional jazz & blues music, celebrating 50 years of friendship and musicianship. Pianist, trumpeter, vocalist, composer Robert Silverman was born in New Haven, CT, and has been playing trumpet since age 9. He is a graduate of the jazz studies department of the New England Conservatory of Music and did graduate work with Jimmy Heath at Queens College. Mr. Silverman was awarded best jazz composer in 2013 by Bronx Council on the Arts and has won numerous grants and awards. He currently works with the elderly population and shares his love of jazz with them and young people as well. He is on the staff of the 92nd Street Y where he teaches jazz history.
